The Issigonis-inspired Minor of 1948 ranks as an all-time British Classic and 1,583,619 has been built when production ceased in 1972. The 6cwt. Minor van was introduced in 1953, and this vehicle represents the final 1098cc version of 1963. Huge numbers were supplied to the Post Office, mostly painted red for mail deliveries, but this one carries the green telephone engineers’ livery which disappeared after Post Office Telecommunications was dissolved in 1970, the new company adopting a garish yellow colour scheme. Allocated to a London depot, this van was sold in 1976, and after further use as a van, was found in a Gypsy encampment in 1982 from which it was rescued for preservation.
