Blackpool 634

Brief History
Tram 634, originally built as car 297 in 1937 as one of twenty Brush Railcoaches for Blackpool Corporation, served for decades before being stored in 1974 and returning in 1976 with modern updates and a blue and yellow livery celebrating Blackpool’s centenary. It later carried various advertising liveries, gained a pantograph in 1986, and was rebuilt after a 1987 collision with upgraded glazing and fittings. Returning to service in 1988 in green and cream, it continued operating through the 1990s, including the notable black “Terror Train” livery promoting Coral Island in 1996, before withdrawal in 2004. Purchased by Andy Ashton in 2009, it was restored at the Rushden Transport Museum with traditional interior materials and repainted in its 1990s-style livery. Donated to the Blackpool Heritage Trust in 2016 and later transferred to the Fylde Transport Trust, 634 now lives and runs frequently at the East Anglia Transport Museum, on loan . The tram has become a staple for visitors and makes a great addition to the site during Halloween events
